The solid wood Frisonoble is presented in a format with the following main characteristics: it is a tongued and grooved profile, with three channels in the back face. The design of the profiles in both sides has been studied to mechanize with scientific accuracy. This way, the pieces, that will be fitted on the wall and ceiling, will assemble easily, showing a smooth look.

The three channels in the back face are designed for a correct ventilation once the panel is fitted on the wall or ceiling.

Wood is a hygroscopic material. This means it can transfer or gain humidity to/from the environment. Gaining or transferring humidity, the wood experiences dimensional changes. If the wood takes humidity it will gain volume; if the wood transfers humidity it will reduce its size. The magnitude of the increase/reduction varies dramatically depending on the wood specie we consider. In general terms, woods of high density will experience the biggest alterations.

Molduras has established a humidity monitoring system that covers all woods from the beginning (the raw materials) to the end (the finished products). Adapting the humidity percentage so accurately as possible to that one existing in the area where Frisonoble will be distributed, we minimize the effects those variations might cause.

On the other hand, it is important to realize that wood, meanly composed of cellulose and lignin, experiences changes in colour because of the action of the solar rays. This phenomenon seems to be caused by the lignin oxidation under the effects of the ultraviolet radiation. Usually, clearer woods get grayish brown and darker woods turn to grey shades.

To those changes in colour, we need to add those ones that affect the chemical products that cover the wood (dyes and varnishes). The nitrocellulosic varnishes tend to turn yellow, the polyacrilic varnishes do not turn yellow so easily and the dark dyes may turn to green shades.

Lasures and other varnishes for outdoor exposure have a sun filter incorporated (iron oxide and others) in their formula that reduces those effects.

Therefore, wood should be protected against the sunlight direct action.

As for the humidity, the Molduras Quality Department has all these parameters constantly in mind in order to place in the market the most equilibrated and stable product.

However all these changes the wood is exposed to, this situation should not be considered as negative except in those cases where an error or defect may be detected. Wood is an alive element, with capacity to adapt to the environment, turning eventually to a shade that makes it more elegant or modern and cosy, enforcing the beauty of the spaces and decorations where it is fitted.
